Pixels

Pixels: ABOUND's on-platform currency

What is a Pixel?

A Pixel is an on-platform currency, represented by this symbol: . Each Pixel is worth about two cents USD.

Why do they exist?

We want everyone to get the chance to play around with beautiful, complex, and large art algorithms.

Unfortunately, running the algorithms, storing the art, and transmitting them to your computer all cost a few cents, since algorithms can be complex, and art can be very large. These add up!

To keep a few bad users from running up a large bill, we charge a few Pixels for any operation which costs us a few cents. The price we charge for a Pixel reflects this cost - making sure we can keep this site running for everyone.

How do I get them?

When you first log in to ABOUND, you'll get 50 to get you started.

After that, every month you use the platform, you'll get an extra 20 for free.

If you ever want to buy Pixels, you can do so at the the Pixel store . There, you can purchase Pixels for $0.02 USD each.

When do I use Pixels?

  • Starting a Run costs 2 .
    • If you don't like the results of the run, you can delete the result to get 1 back.
    • If the run fails, you will generally get your Pixels back.
      • If you fail a run of an algorithm you are the author of, you won't be refunded
      • If you fail a LOT of runs, you'll eventually stop being refunded
  • Purchasing art sometimes costs real money, and sometimes costs 1 . The Artist that created the algorithm gets to set this price.
  • Since the actual art generated can be VERY large, downloading art that you own costs 1 after the first (free) download.

You can always see how your Pixels have been spent/refunded in your transaction history .
